Our Ministries

Womens Ministries

Friendship Circle

Friendship Circle meets at church, once a month during the evening. We describe ourselves as a group who gets together in friendship and fellowship, and who believes in old fashioned Christian values and service to our Lord. We do many different projects during the year for our Church, both small and large, including the making of vestments for the altar and banners to decorate the sanctuary. If you are interested in joining our Circle, or have any questions regarding our group, please contact Marilyn Solis at rellandtheprince@sbcglobal.net.

Wednesday Morning Bible Study

We have a Womens Morning Bible Study which meets throughout the year from 10:00am to 12:00 noon. We are currently studying the entire bible using the "Immersion Bible Studies" series written by Stan Purdum. We began with Genesis and on September 24th, 2014, begun the books of Ezra, Nehemiah, and Ester. We still have a long way to go, so if you would like to join this exciting study of the entire bible, please contact Pastor SoYoung Kim at pastorSY1UMC@comcast.net.

Adult Ministries

Mens Ministries

The men had a wonderful time enjoying great conversation and sumptuous food at the Parsonage. The BBQ was hosted by Pastor SoYoung Kims husband Jonathan Kim. The men all agreed - "Jonathan CAN cook!!!"

New opportunities for the Mens Ministry are being discussed and planned. More to follow!

Community Adult Bible Study

Every Sunday at 8:45 am, we offer an Community Adult Bible Study. The moderator for this ministry is Brother Paul Lawson. Brother Paul has a Ph.D. in Education and an M.A. in Religion. We are currently discussing how true unity in the church comes only when we are drenched by and surrendered to the Holy Spirit, and how the Holy Sprit is an important member and manifestation of the Triune God. This study is open to all adults over the age of eighteen. Please join us.

Evening Bible Study

We have an evening Bible Study which meets on Wednesday of each week at 6:30pm, except for the summer months of July and August. This study group typically picks a contempory work of liturature to analyze, and then discuss its application to our world and community, as well as to ourselves. The starting time of this study varies throuhout the year. Please check the monthly calendars for current starting time.

Music Ministries

Praise Band

Our Praise Band, including keyboard and guitar, leads our congregation in a mixture of Contemporary Christian songs and traditional hymns. They meet for practice on Wednesday evenings at 7:00pm. to prepare for each weeks service. Anyone who would like to share their musical talent is welcome to join. Please contact our Music Director, Dave Schreier if you would like to participate in this ministry.

Bell Choir

Our Bell Choir plays periodically throughout months of September through May. We practice on Wednesday evenings at 6:30pm. Anyone who would like to share their musical talent is welcome to join. Childrens Ministry

All Children are Welcome!

Sunday School is held every Sunday morning from 10:15 to 11:00. Children will gather in the Sanctuary and participate in worship until the "Sharing of the Peace" is finished. Following the "Sharing" time, the children are sent to their classes. If you have any questions regarding Sunday School or the curriculum, please contact Pastor SoYoung at pastorSY1UMC@comcast.net or Patti at Bstrealtr@aol.com, or Nicole at nm.windsor@yahoo.com.

For Toddlers

On the first and third Sundays of each month at 4pm(Special schedules for July and August), we will gather at church for a Bible Lesson, Songs and Prayers that are helpful to the spiritual growth of the youngest members of our faith community, who together with their families can learn and grow in the depth of how God loves them.  All families with toddlers are welcome to come and to join in fellowship with us, and please spread the word to other young families you know!

All Moms & their Babies and Toddlers Welcome!

Sometimes parenthood can be hard, and its good to have support and fellowship with other Moms of babies and toddlers. Our Church is now offering a Play & Support Group on Thursdays from 4 to 5:30pm, and it is hosted at homes of young families from both our church and community. If you know any Moms who would be interested please put them in touch with Michelle Maki at 630-350-8321.  We send out a separate email with the information and calendar.

Prayer Shawl Ministry

Prayer Shawl Ministry for All!

Know someone in need of being wrapped in prayers?

You are welcome to pick either an "over-the-shoulder" prayer shawl or "hand-held" pocket prayer shawl to give to someone who needs it. You can speak with either Marilyn Solis at 630-650-4000 or Pastor Kim at 630-766-4124 to get a prayer shawl. The Pastor will individually bless the shawl for the person who will be receiving it!

Prayer shawls are a solid way that we can let people know that we, as a congregation, are praying for them and that God is journeying with them at this time!

Know that Prayer Shawls are available for people within and outside of the congregation!

Vitality & Outreach

Vitality Team Ministries

The mission of the Vitality Team is to help people grow in their relationship with God and in relationship with their friends and neighbors. Some of the ways we do this is through small group adult studies, Family Worship time, Mom and Tots Playgroup, and special events such as an annual Pet Blessing.

Outreach Ministries

Our goal is to identify and minister to those in need, within our local and global communities.  We strive to be intentional, inclusive, and engaged to eradicate poverty of the mind, body and spirit. To serve faithfully and respond to sensitive issues of social concerns through organized activities. To this end we pledge our time, resources, and prayers.

During the course of a year, we are involved in many different events, such as:

UMCOR  Health Kits,  Easy Care After School Program, Rainbow Covenant, Community Garden, DuPage River Sweep, Chicago Homeless Sandwich Run, Feed The Starving Children, Imagine No Malaria, Caring & Sharing in "Soles for Shoes, School Bags, Gloves, Hats, and Coats", and PADS.

If you have any questions about our Outreach Programs, or would like to be involved, please contact Patti Steffensen at bstrealtr@aol.com

Prayer Group

We have a dedicated prayer group that meets at 9:30am every Saturday morning to pray for the needs and concerns of our congregation, community, and the world, Prayer requests, can be made verbally to our Pastor by calling 630-766-4124, or be written and placed within the Prayer Request Box placed in our front lobby.
